An official in Itanagar informed on Thursday that the fire broke out in the hostel where over 60 children studying in the nearby Don Bosco School stayed, at around 9 pm on Wednesday night. The private hostel, made of thatched bamboo, was run by a widow residing in the area.
The reason behind the suicide was yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was found, police said.
The deceased identified as J R Philemon, native of Senapti district in Manipur, was found dead in room no 171 of the Brahmaputra Hostel, police said.
